Our rolls making process undergoes tight process control right from the beginning, in order to ensure quality production.
TTS (2003) insists on stringent selection of raw materials with specifications according to customer requirement.
The production process starts from the preparation of sand mold for casting. The sand is properly blended into desired properties. Pig Iron is then mixed to specification and melted for casting. After proper treatment to obtain the desired composition, it is then poured into the sand mold embedded in the casting pit below ground level. The melt is then left to air cool. After solidification, it is then disassembled and the formed product is termed ¡°as-cast¡± roll.
To attain the desired microstructure and properties, the as-cast rolls are kept in the heat-treatment oven over specified hours. Alternatively, ductile as-cast rolls are sent straight to rough machining and subsequent machining after cooling down from disassembly. During the process, quality assurance inspection is carried out to ensure the product conforms to standards required.
Finally, the rolls are ready for packing and delivery. The steps below summarized the above process through checking and testing according to the designed quality plan, which has achieved the Lloyds Register Quality Assurance ISO 9001 certification
