Roll Microstructure Assessment

 

By mastering the know-how of casting, TTS2003 dictates the phase diagram of the roll material and produces the best microstructure for rolls to suit different rolling mill characteristics.

The images (Upper Roll 每 A1 & Lower Roll 每 A2) shall demonstrate the x200 Microscopic View of unetched ductile iron roll barrel surface.

Evenly distributed spheroidal graphite of uniform size and shape gives excellent protection of wear and tear with zero material chipping off. Good formation of graphite is essential for tight & complex caliber design.

Besides,
the identical microstructure of rolls contribute to similar upper and lower roll working performance, giving consistent and predictable output.

In contrast, the
sample with poor microstructure control (Roll 每 B1 & Roll 每 B2), displays few visible graphite nodules and traces of non-uniform dispersed graphite, giving rise to poor crack resistance properties.
